Description:
National Canadian Film Day is about encouraging all residents of Canada to celebrate the incredible achievements of our nation’s filmmakers. There’s nothing wrong with loving Hollywood films, but they’re no substitute for the connection you can feel when you watch something from our own backyard.
On April 16th, we invite participants to join us for a screening of the movie, "The Queen of My Dreams". This story follows a Pakistani-Canadian woman who, after the sudden passing of her father, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. As she reconnects with her estranged mother, the film weaves between past and present, exploring themes of identity, family expectations and cultural duality. Blending drama, humor and Bollywood-inspired visuals, this heartfelt story delves into the complexities of mother-daughter relationships and the search for belonging across generations.
This event will be held in-person at the JUMP Scarborough Office.
Please note that spaces are limited.
