work readiness


The YWCA Work Readiness program offers comprehensive employment and job search skills needed for today’s world of work. Through a combination of personal development and job search strategies, workshops and individual counselling, you will enhance your competitive edge in the job market.

who should come

  • women who are job ready and able and willing to find work
  • women who need to have a focused, finished resume and need assistance with their job search
  • women who are able to communicate in English
  • women who are able to commit to a 2 week program from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

what you'll learn

  • self marketing strategies, resume writing, interviewing, networking, presentation, calling cards, portfolio and job maintenance and employer expectations
  • do's and don'ts of dressing for success, and first impressions

program duration

Program is for 2 intensive weeks

  • a targeted resume to get a job interview
  • how to write a cover letter that works
  • how to present a portfolio and win the job interview
  • how to network and self-market to land a job and maintain employment
  • all the skills and knowledge to compete in the world of work
