2006 election: one woman, one vote
2006 federal election: one woman, one vote
 Party
platforms and women’s equality
Over half the election campaign is over and parties have less
than three weeks to tell women how they will move women’s equality
forward if they form the next government.
What
would Canada look like if every eligible woman cast a vote?
For the YWCA, encouraging women to vote doesn’t mean encouraging
them to vote in a certain way. It means helping women to be informed
about their choices and the political process, encouraging dialogue regarding
candidates’ positions on public policy topics, and increasing
women’s understanding of their own power to affect change.
Still
in Shock 2006
Still in Shock is intended to provide Canadian voters
with a quick background and key questions on women’s equality
to ask candidates and party leaders in public debates, meetings,
letters to the editor, radio phone-ins, blogs and all the other places
our voices can be heard leading up to the forthcoming election.
